It’s Okay!!

It’s ok, it really is!

It’s ok if you missed your bus today, or if you overcooked your meals, had an unnecessary fight with your friend, or could not attend a meeting, or if you are confused or not yourself once in a while. It is ok to not be ok.

We are humans and tend to get snappy at times. Sometimes the usual monotonous life bores us, and we pine for a change. Other times, some changes introduced in our lives overwhelm us, making us confused and irritable. We are also perturbed by changes that happen in the lives of people close to us while we continue living the same static life.

Christy, mother of two, managing a waitress job with the studies she needs to do to enter into her dream law school, eventually made it through! While it was a great achievement, Christy’s mother, Bonnie, was not much appreciative of it. Instead, she started finding ways to let her daughter down, in turn hurting her feelings. They snapped at each other for days, ultimately forcing the true emotions out of Bonnie. She was undoubtedly happy and proud of her daughter but also a little jealous. Well, I just narrated an episode of the series Mom (finding the episode is on you ;)). If you ask me or had I been in Bonnie’s place, apart from jealousy, I would have been more bothered due to the changes happening in my daughter’s life and threatened of losing her. It is reasonable to have these feelings and important to share them.

While it is absolutely fine to go off the track at times, I don’t advocate the persistency of these manners. After all, we don’t want to shoo off people with our regular behavior imbalances. We need to give ourselves time and space to process our emotions and reactions, discuss it wherever feasible, and apologize to the people we unintentionally hurt during the process.

Be easy on yourself till the time we meet next! Ciao.
