HOCL – The Sanjeevani Booti of our times!

The pandemic took its toll on many and induced a fear that would make us do just about anything for survival. The market was ringing hell’s-bells and unfortunately, it created an opportune market for superficial and counterfeit drugs, a plethora of fake disinfectants and hand sanitizers, claiming to be life-saving. Turns out, it was money-making propaganda! To the extent that many of the brands claiming the effectiveness of alcohol-based sanitizers did not even meet the 60–95% ethanol benchmark laid down by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and even though COVID-19 may have gone incognito, the nightmare is far from over.

Today morning, WHO has warned us of a third wave and several media channels are talking about how ill-prepared India is from an infrastructure standpoint, speculating on how the Coronavirus will be going for the jugular this time. A piece by NDTV outlines its possible impact on children. This is not intended at causing panic or anxiety, but just a reminder of how we as citizens are also, if not equally, responsible for the disaster finding its footing and how we can prevent it from doing so, this time around.

What can we do?

Well, the preparation usually begins at home, with the right mindset. NCBI has validated surface disinfection as part of a multi-barrier approach to fighting off pathogens. You must be like, ‘oh we do use a disinfectant and it’s effective! But really, how much do you know about the product you are using? How would you measure its efficacy? It’s simple! Don’t fall within the trap of blind marketing gimmicks. Look for reliable sources such as the WHO for validation. We have discussed HOCl (Hypochlorous acid) in our previous posts as well. Of how it’s magic and proven to be lethal for pathogens and soft on human tissues and skin i.e. “Doston ka Dost, Dushmano Ka Dushman”. There is N number of bodies quoting its efficacy, read Force of Nature and I am taking the liberty of calling it the “Sanjeevani Booti of our times”.

HOCl Uses

  • It is electrolyzed water, i.e., a combination of water, salt, and electricity
  • It is part of the natural defense system of a human body
  • It is non-alcoholic and chemical-free, thus devoid of causing any harmful effects
  • It is approved as a ‘Green Chemical’ by the WHO
  • It is approved as an antiseptic by the FDA and Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) – it is a natural wound healer
  • It is effective as a household disinfectant and can be used on all surfaces
  • It is even safe to be used on fruits and vegetables
  • It can be used indoors and outdoors
  • It is very smooth on the skin and doesn’t leave any scars or stains on the body
  • It works at a meager maintenance cost
  • The product is recommended as a safe disinfectant for hospitals, restaurants, and schools
  • Countries like Japan, America, Canada, Indonesia, and South Korea are widely using this product.

Many Healthcare facilities, eateries, fashion brands, organizations, and households across the globe and in India have identified HOCL. A case in point is Hyderabad-based Ven Energy Processors who have built the Disinfectant Dry Fog C-Gate, and DIY portable Disinfectant & Sanitizer Generators by Aquox. Even though they are putting HOCl to good use, none of them is domesticating or making it affordable for regular and multipurpose use. Venus Remedies Limited is one such firm dedicated to the idea of providing a consistent solution for the benefit of the common man, and it has developed an HOCl based multipurpose disinfectant and a sanitizer, which serves all the aforementioned purposes mentioned in its uses.

We hope that in the days to come, we have more organizations developing similar solutions for addressing this long and pressing issue i.e. COVID-19.
