Panchkula – The city of 5 canals

I’ve passed through the city of Panchkula a couple of times during the last eight years. Moving across the streets of different sectors, seeing the way the city is planned, admiring the big bungalows, I always had a feeling to earn and buy a home here one day! While inhabiting a planned structure since its inception, the city has always been on the lookout for incorporating new changes. Besides a streamlined design, we can say change is the only constant for the city.

A part of Haryana’s Ambala division, Panchkula integrates with Chandigarh and Mohali to collectively form the Chandigarh Tricity. Home to a population of around three lacs, the city has some exotic tourist spots, including the Morni hills, Pinjore Gardens, and the famous Mata Mansa Devi Mandir.

The city has been undergoing some alluring landscape changes recently. The beautification work was launched in April ’21 by Haryana Speaker and local MLA Gian Chand Gupta. With an aim to make Panchkula cleaner, greener, and more beautiful, the Speaker launched painting work on the back walls of houses along the sector-dividing roads. He also commenced the initiative of planting grass alongside city roads.

Gifted artists from across the state are painting images of beautiful flowers or something to depict stories behind the rich heritage of India. We came across an artist from Karnal, who is retired now and is helping the Panchkula administration decorate the city through his paintings. In yet another interesting instance, we saw some Panchkula house murals giving the message to keep the city clean and green under the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission.’ The deft artwork gave a new and colorful look to some private houses and public places. I can only imagine the incredible exquisiteness the city will incorporate in the days to come!

We all can also, similarly, evolve with times and make at least the small area we live in, artistic.
