A dusky evening turning dark, yet not at all dark – what time of the year is it after all?!? Peeping through a small window, the skies and buildings look damn exotic – how do I express all this! For a person who always carries a slight flight fear and never looks down the window is unable to take her eyes off today! Yes, it’s Diwali – I always remember the one when I was coming back home from Pune for a much-awaited reunion with my family 💓. Such a flamboyant view downwards from the sky reaching the glittering buildings of Delhi while landing infused an inexplicable zest within – practically wearing down any fatigue from the journey.
Yesssssssssssss!!! It’s Diwali 💥💝💕💥
Light over darkness – good over evil – entire India sparks this message, with each part celebrating it in its own unique way exemplifying the country’s diversity. So, let’s peep through some of these today!
🪔 Celebrating Diwali a day in advance? People taking oil baths and a joyful evening full of crackles and crackers? Oooo, you are in Tamil Nadu!!
🪔 Exuberant pandals, decked up Goddess Kali, people lighting exact 14 🪔s outside their homes? OMG, you’ve landed our good old West Bengal!!
🪔 Millions of 🪔🪔🪔 lined up in an utterly staunch manner accompanied with a synchronized evening aarti? True, no guesses here – we all know where we are – Varanasi!!
🪔 Huge effigies of demon Narkasur being destroyed by Lord Krishna? Super! You are in a place people long to visit any time of the year – Goa!!
🪔 Exquisite shopping festivals and markets loaded with bright colors of red and orange? Be happy you’ve landed in the pink city of Rajasthan!!
🪔 Prayers to Goddess Lakshmi, entirely lit-up and golden Gurudwaras, candles all around, exchange of gifts, crackers bursting, and people feasting? Oh Balle Balle, tussi in your very own Punjab!!
🪔 Hearing phrases like Bestu Varas, Vaag Baras, Kali Chaudash, and Bhai Bij? Welcome to the sweet culture of Gujarat!!
🪔 Enchanted by hundreds of colorful diyas floating on water, leaving a mesmerizing effect on the ripples? Yes, it is the paradise on Earth – Kashmir!!
🪔 People burning jute sticks to remember their ancestors and seek their blessings? A unique culture of a unique state – Odisha!!
🪔 A soft shine of 21 diyas outside each home a day before Diwali with people cherishing the joy of Choti Diwali? And this is Bihar!!
🪔 Soft and spiritual celebrations, worshiping the love of a mother cow and her calf, observance of a full day fast? Quite contrary to what one can actually expect from a state like Maharashtra!!
And many more different ways in different parts yet forming a special connection within the entire nation.
