The pandemic took its toll on many and induced a fear that would make us do just about anything for survival. The market was ringing hell’s-bells and unfortunately, it created an opportune market for superficial and counterfeit drugs, a plethora of fake disinfectants and hand sanitizers, claiming to be life-saving. Turns out, it was money-making propaganda<\/strong><\/a>!<\/span> To the extent that many of the brands claiming the effectiveness of alcohol-based sanitizers did not even meet the 60–95% ethanol benchmark laid down by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and even though COVID-19 may have gone incognito, the nightmare is far from over. <\/p>\n\n\n

Today morning, WHO has warned us <\/a><\/span>of a third wave and several media channels are talking about how ill-prepared India is from an infrastructure standpoint, speculating on how the Coronavirus will be going for the jugular this time. A piece by NDTV<\/a><\/strong> outlines its possible impact on children. This is not intended at causing panic or anxiety, but just a reminder of how we as citizens are also, if not equally, responsible for the disaster finding its footing and how we can prevent it from doing so, this time around.<\/p>\n\n\n

What can we do?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Well, the preparation usually begins at home, with the right mindset. NCBI<\/a><\/strong> has validated surface disinfection as part of a multi-barrier approach to fighting off pathogens. You must be like, \u2018oh we do use a disinfectant and it’s effective! But really, how much do you know about the product you are using? How would you measure its efficacy? It’s simple! Don\u2019t fall within the trap of blind marketing gimmicks. Look for reliable sources such as the WHO<\/a> for validation.
