Now <-> Won

You’ve already won half the battle if you are living in the now

I read a story during my school days, the gist of which is as under:

There was a king looking for answers to three questions.

1. What is the most important time of life?

2. Which is the person that he should listen to?

3. What is the most important task to do?

Dissatisfied by the answers of many, he turned to a wise hermit to seek responses for his queries. He felt that once he knows the answers to these questions, nothing in life can get the better of him. On spending a day with the hermit, he came to know & realize:

  • Now, i.e., the present moment is the most important time of life.
  • The person with whom you are currently spending the time is the most important.
  • The task which you are doing at the moment is the most important task of that time.

The lessons learned during school time can form our life’s foundation. Ironically, we only crammed those lessons from examination point of view at the time, and when we comprehend their true message, we are way past our school time. But it’s never too late, and we can always recall them.

We all know that past is gone, the future is yet to come, the only thing we have is present. Yet, most of the time, we either think about the past or the future. Even while writing this, twice I thought about a friend who might come to visit me this weekend. ☺ So I am no one to give a lecture here, but for me, this is a safe platform wherein I can discuss topics that I believe are important. I really hope that these 5 or 10 minutes reads could benefit us in some way, probably provide a direction, or maybe get us through another day!

Change is something that will always happen! Taking one step at a time- let us only work while we work today, and religiously watch TV while doing that (without thinking about work). It won’t happen in a day, or perhaps won’t become a habit at all. But every time your mind goes off the track and once you realize that you’ve been distracted again, spank yourself lightly and get back to wherever you were.

One might think, then what about the things we need to think about, like what to wear for a friend’s marriage, or how to start commuting back to the office once the situation is back to normal, or where will I be two years from now, etc., etc. No matter how hard we try, we are often bugged by these thoughts. And avoiding them won’t help. So why not feed them as well, by sparing 15 or 30 minutes for your thoughts, dreams, or any wild ideas you might have in your mind. Let us name it our “daydreaming time” of the day.

Being in the now is a powerful tool that restores your energy and saves you a lot of time to yet again restore the lost energy and enthusiasm.

So, are you with me in the restitution process?

  2. An interesting discussion is definitely worth comment. There’s no doubt that that you should publish more on this topic, it might not be a taboo matter but generally people do not speak about such topics. To the next! All the best!!|

  3. Aw, this was an incredibly good post. Spending some time and actual effort to make a good article… but what can I say… I procrastinate a lot and never seem to get nearly anything done.|
